When I die, the world needs a new game engine
IGN title The real reason we’ve all lost touch with technology in the last 20 years article IGN: Why I think we’re heading for an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) article IGN is a game site for people who enjoy the thought of playing video games, but also like to brag about them.
The IGN AI team brings together a mix of seasoned game writers and technology pros, from veteran game makers to budding creators, to talk about the future of gaming and the games we’ll play in it.
This week, they’re tackling the biggest and most ambitious project they’ve ever worked on: The Next Big Thing, a new AI-powered game from the folks behind Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and The Last of Us.
It’s set to launch this year.
For the past year, we’ve been looking for the next big thing from a diverse group of people, from a group of young programmers to an all-star group of game industry vets.
The result is an exciting new project from our friends at Obsidian, the studio behind the world-renowned The Banner Saga and The Banner King, and we can’t wait to share this with you all.
The Next Big Things is a project of enormous scope, both technical and artistic.
It combines the best elements of both games to create a unique experience for gamers and a new way of creating new games, something we’re very excited about.
The team has spent years building the tools, infrastructure, and storyboards for the game, so now is a great time to start sharing that knowledge and our passion for the project.
This is going to be a huge, ambitious project.
We’re creating a game that will change the way we approach games.
I’ve always wanted to create games that were both original and universal, and The Next Huge Things takes that concept to its absolute extreme.
In fact, I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for what’s to come.
But before I get into that, let me tell you a little bit about what we’re building.
The game is about a man called Dr. Franklin Strain.
He’s an incredibly well-rounded scientist who has been involved in various aspects of humanity’s survival since the dawn of mankind.
As a kid, he played with robots, used his imagination to create the first AI, and worked in his father’s lab at a time when computers were a bit less common.
But the future is changing.
As our civilization begins to unravel and humanity’s last vestiges of hope fade away, we find ourselves in a new era of global catastrophe, a future where our own civilization is falling apart.
It feels like everything’s been ripped from us and now we’re just sitting there waiting for someone to do something about it.
It might not be the end, but the next giant leap into the unknown might be just around the corner.
The team at Obsidians creative team is a remarkable group of talented people who are going to make this game a reality.
Obsidian is an incredibly diverse studio with over a dozen teams of people working on both AAA and independent games.
They’ve got experience working on such iconic franchises as Deus Ex, The Banner series, The Last Of Us, and, most recently, The Taken King.
In addition to the game we’re developing for them, we’re also bringing together talented game makers from all over the world to work on this project.
Obsidios creative team has a lot of talent, and they’re excited to share that talent with all of you.
You can watch a sneak peek of the game below, and you can learn more about it here.
