Lincoln Park developer plans to build luxury apartment tower on Lincoln project
NEW YORK – The Lincoln Park-based developer of a luxury condo tower near the Lincoln Park Zoo is looking to put a large number of its tenants in the city.
The developer, The Lincoln Group, plans to open the first phase of its luxury apartment complex in the former Lincoln Park subway station in 2019, the firm announced on Wednesday.
The complex, with 639 apartments, is expected to be a $1 billion project.
The company is seeking to build an eight-story building that would be taller than the current Lincoln Park building.
It would be the tallest building in the United States when completed, and will be about 10 stories taller than any other residential building in Lincoln Park.
The project is the latest in a string of projects aimed at creating luxury apartments in the central business district of the city that includes Midtown Manhattan, which is the largest commercial hub in the country.
Lincoln Park’s development comes as the city is trying to develop an additional 1,300 apartments for the Lincoln Financial Center, a planned mixed-use development with a retail and hotel project.
