La Boule vermeille and Cheminots cerbérienne received the Boule sportive argelésienne in the framework of the Roussillon Cup, category 2. The two petanque sports clubs have so far tied in the number of points achieved: will this day be decided between them? This is the first year that the Cerbère club enters the Roussillon Cup. With 21 graduates, Vermeille Ball is doing well and has new players, who practice on Tuesdays and Fridays. Most of them are pétanque, which have come over the years because of the technicality of the game and also to change things up a bit. Michel Bial, the president, specifies: “Registration in this contest allows new licensees to play.” In 1971, aged 11, he himself won this Roussillon cup in a double with his friend Philippe Dauré, still a member of the Cerbère team.
In their group, the parties compete back and forth against Argelès-sur-Mer, Arles-sur-Tech, Claira, Prades and Saint-André. Today is the second leg between seven players from Argelès-sur-Mer and twelve from Cerbère. There are three games left, against Arles-sur-Tech, Saint-André and Claira. The final instead Saturday April 1 between the first two, on neutral ground. At the end of the meeting on Saturday, the result of 15 to 15 still did not allow to decide between ties.
