Dynamo Moscow board member Dmitry Gafin are no longer in contact with Chelsea over a possible deal for midfielder Arsen Zakharyan.
The Blues have tried to sign the 19-year-old twice this season, last summer and in January.
While Chelsea was ready to pay for the young midfielder he reported Release clause of 14 million pounds, transferring the money that Dynamo proved to be a challenge due to the restrictions imposed on Russian clubs.
Zakharyan himself already expressed his desire to join Chelsea last summer.
Unfortunately, a move from Stamford Bridge is looking increasingly unlikely at the moment after Dynamo official Gafin confirmed that Chelsea have not made another approach.
“The shopping club initiative should be present,” he told Russian media Sport 24 when asked about Zakharyan’s situation.
“I think Chelsea haven’t found a way to do the transaction. You have to ask Chelsea why.
“Chelsea is not in contact with us about Zakharyan’s transfer.”
Gafin also said Chelsea are not the only club interested in Zakharyan, who has recently been linked with Turkish side Galatasaray.
There is a chance Chelsea will try again at the end of this season, but the arrival of Andrey Santos could also spell the end of their pursuit of Zakharyan.
In addition to Santos, Chelesa also signed two other new midfielders this season; Cesare Casadei, who is currently on loan at Reading, and Carney Chukwuemeka.
